Trying out SmugMug

I decided to try out SmugMug.com to display some photographs and for embedding galleries quickly. I'm not getting rid of Flikr but I did want a place to easily sell prints and store galleries that wasn't going to cost an arm and a leg.

I debated between SmugMug, PhotoBucket and PhotoShelter but decided that PhotoBucket didn't seem to have the options I wanted and PhotoShelter is a bit too expensive. Though, I'm tempted to switch just on the slideshows that can be done with PhotoShelter. I may just change to them down the road, but for now SmugMug will at least get a shot and fill a need for displaying private content to clients.

I put up some of my portfolio photographs for newspaper work and created a slideshow for it. Enjoy.

Update 1-3-2011: The gallery has been removed because I closed my account with Smugmug. Since trying Smugmug for a month or so I decided it didn't present photographs as nicely as I would have liked so I closed my account. I've moved to PhotoShelter, but there are also some other places that are intriguing too.

PhotoShelter is a very expensive option. Why don't you try zenfolio  or BlueMelon - both much cheaper and better than smugmug in my opinion
