A small update

I've been quiet for a while on the site because of a recent move. I moved from Grandview Heights to the Powell. My place is finally looking better, though there are still some boxes and other items to get too.

That is no excuse for not posting updates, so I will try and catch up on some photographs I've taken over the past month or so.

I am also going to be changing a few things on the site. Some will be minor others will be major but they will slowly roll out as I get the projects finished.

For now, smile, be happy and love the family on this upcoming Fourth of July! Follow me on twitter if you want to find out what is going on with me and my thoughts on life.

Drupal Group Meetup

This website is built on Drupal. For those who do not know what that is, it is a powerful content managment system similar to WordPress or Joomla.

One of the great resources here in Columbus, Ohio is a Drupal group that meets the first Sundays of every month. The group's name is CODUG which stands for Columbus Drupal User Group. We usually meet at 2 p.m. at the Columbus main library. If you have interest in Drupal or use Drupal please come for a meeting.

For more information on the group look here: http://groups.drupal.org/central-ohio

This months meet-up is just a couple days away. Place and time info can be found at http://groups.drupal.org/node/21128

Moon Ride over Reynoldsburg

Recently I won a second place award in the pictorial category from the Ohio News Photographers Association for an image I took in 2008 of the moon with a carnival ride flying in front of it at the Reynoldsburg Tomato Festival. The image never ran in the newspaper because the editors did not like it for the photo page of the festival. ... [Read More]

Sunday Link-O-Rama for April 12, 2009

Here are a few links that caught my eye.

DIY Photoshop Brushes

Create your own brushes even from your own photographs.

DIY Remote Flash Trigger

A group has been working hard to create there own do it yourself flash trigger. Looks interesting although I'm not sure it would meet my needs. I'm leaning towards eitehr Pocket Wizards or Radio Poppers.

PocketWizard Flex TT5 Mini TT1 vs. RadioPopper PX Video Review

Speaking of Radio Poppers. The newest ttl flash triggers were reviewed by a photographer and his crew in videos on YouTube. The review appears to be pretty thorough for both ttl flash triggers. I was actually shocked by the results and am just a little skeptical the pocket wizard system didn't perform better. I would like to see some more real life reviews of both systems before a purchase.

43 Photography Hacks, Mods And DIY Projects

I really enjoy this site and it has pulled together 3 years of projects into one post.

Best of Instructables Vol. 1

I'm a sucker for anything DIY and Instructables is a place I like to go for inspiration. They recently came out with a book of their best projects but they also put all the information online.

Hope you enjoy these links. If you have any recommendations for DIY or photography places to visit, please leave a link in the comments.

Niece's Wedding

My niece Stephanie was married recently to a great guy named Chris. I wasn't their official photographer but I did take some photographs at the wedding and reception. I'm embedding in this post a video of some of the photographs from the their day.
